Beginning in June of 2002, the Belvidere City Council has changed the meeting schedules for their various committees, and has combined these committees to meet as "Committees of the Whole". This method allows all members of the Council, rather than only a few, to participate on each committee, and provides a more efficient working schedule for the Council. In addition, this should allow the citizens of Belvidere greater opportunity to attend meetings and learn about the workings of City Government.
