The historic former Post Office building, located at 200 South State Street houses two of the four local economic development agencies: Growth Dimensions and Northern Illinois Tourism Development Office. The Belvidere Area Chamber of Commerce is located at 130 South State Street.

The not-for-profit economic development corporation, Growth Dimensions, acts as the economic development agency for the city of Belvidere and Boone County. It is funded in part by both governments, as well as by numerous local businesses and agencies. The mission of Growth Dimensions is to improve the overall quality of life by fostering economic opportunity and personal growth.

Growth Dimensions seeks to retain existing business and industry and attract new firms compatible with the character of the community. Their staff, lead by Director Mark Williams, has the requisite technical expertise to help companies fund expansion, modernization, or relocation to Belvidere and Boone County. It administers the Belvidere-Boone County Enterprise Zone and Belvidere's downtown tax increment financing districts, maintains an inventory of all available commercial and industrial sites and buildings, provides up-to-date demographics, facilitates discussions with State and local agencies, and assists in meeting financing and job training needs.
